Organisers finalise schedule to announce P10K to the people of Palestine
Saturday 27th March, 2004

On Thursday April 22nd - just a day after Mordechai Vanunu's release from prison - P10K will be offically announced to the people of Palestine and the world at a press conference in Al-Quds-Jerusalem.

The P10K action was initiated by former US citizen and ex-Marine Ken O Keefe who ultimately renounced his US citizenship in direct protest of US policies. He also initiated and organized the Human Shield Action to Iraq leading up to last year's US led invasion. Ken then burned his US passport in Baghdad in January 2004 and called on all US servicemen to put down their weapons and refuse service.

P10K will ensure a ceasefire from Palestinian militant groups, on the condition that 10,000 western citizens 'occupy' the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Through non-violent direct resistance, the P10K Force will prevent the IDF from continuing it's aggressive and inflamatory actions against the Palestinian people - it will stop assassinations, incursions, curfews and full military occupation.

Ken and two P10K co-ordinators, Ian and Sjur, negotiated an agreement in principle with several Palestinian officals during a trip to Palestine in December 2003.

Following the Al-Quds-Jerusalem press conference, at which Mustafa Barghouti and Hanan Ashwari are scheduled to speak, the P10K co-ordinators will hold open public meetings to explain P10K more fully to local people, and invite comments, criticisms and endorsements. The meetings will be held in Al-Quds-Jerusalem, Gaza, Ramallah, Bethlehem/Hebron, Tulkarm/Qalqilya, Jenin/Nablus and Jaffa-Tel Aviv. A detailed intinerary will appear in a later update.

The P10K co-ordinators will also join the 24 hour international vigil at Ashkelon to welcome Mordechai Vanunu on his release from prison after 18 years incrceration - 12 of them in solitary confinement - and celebrate his role in 1986 of exposing Israel's secretive and illegal nuclear weapons programme.

Having announced and secured full endorsement for P10K, the co-ordinators will leave Palestine in early May, to return just four months later with the 10,000 strong P10K Force.
